ROOKIE ROTATION: Beginning tonight the Reds will start rookie pitchers in 3 straight games for the second time this week…according to Elias Sports Bureau, when RHP Mike Leake (Sun at Chi), LHP Travis Wood (Mon at NYM) and LHP Matt Maloney (Tue at NYM) pitched earlier this week, the Reds started 3 straight rookie pitchers for the first time since LHP Brandon Claussen, RHP Josh Hancock and RHP Luke Hudson did it from 9/27-9/29, 2004…barring a change in the rotation this weekend, for the first time in their history the Reds will start rookie pitchers in their last 3g prior to the All-Star break.

The Reds haven’t officially announced it yet, but it sounds like Ramon Hernandez will go on the disabled list. He hasn”t played since Sunday becasue of sore left knee.

He would be eligible to come off the DL three days after the All-Star Break.

Ryan Hanigan would take his spot. Hanigan had four hits in last four rehab at-bats.
