As we wind toward July and the trade deadline, teams are usually sorted into two neat categories:
Buyers: Contenders looking to shore up for the stretch run.
Sellers: Teams looking to shed veterans (read salary) to get younger – and presumably better – for the future.
The Reds don’t seem to fit in either category.
The deadline is still five weeks away and much can change. Right now at least, the Reds are a contender without glaring needs and without a lot of money to spend.
So it’s very possible the club could do little at the deadline.
One guess at the most likely deadline scenario: Aaron Harang gets traded for help this season or for young talent that could help in….
