On the evening of September 11, 1985 Pete Rose collected hit number 4,192 passing Ty Cobb as the all-time career hits leader. “4192”: The Crowning of the Hit King.” Lays the ground work on how Pete Rose’s career in baseball led him to become the HIT KING of baseball. The movie flows very well from his time in the minors to the fateful night of the greatest hit in Pete’s career. Baseball fans and not just fans of the Reds will love this movie. Reds announcer Marty Brennaman , and former teammates Tony Perez and Mike Schmidt also help tell the story. I walked away from the movie feeling even better about the game I love so much. 4 ½ out of 5 stars
Rose attended the premiere Wednesday night and spoke with reporters outside the theater. He said the film is only about baseball. “I wasn’t interested in (the controversy). This is a baseball documentary. It has nothing about the suspension. Nothing about reinstatement, nothing about the commissioner, nothing about the gambling. So you guys would be pissed now. If you don’t’ like baseball, don’t go see this (documentary).”
